Bronx Legal Services

Nakia is a member of the Board of Directors of Bronx Legal Services, a local unit of Legal Services NYC. The community-based organization is the nation’s largest organization exclusively devoted to providing free legal assistance to the poor, with programs located in low-income neighborhoods throughout New York City, and serves more than 60,000 clients annually.

Moore College of Art + Design

Nakia served as a member of the Advisory Board to Moore’s MA program in Art Education, with an Emphasis on Special Populations. Founded in 1848, Moore is the first and only visual arts college for women in the United States. The College offers nine BFA programs, including Art Education, Art History, Curatorial Studies, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Design and Photography + Digital Arts. Nakia is a member of the Fashion Group International, Philadelphia. Founded in 1928 by seventeen women, including Elizabeth Arden, Eleanor Roosevelt and Edna Woolman Chase – Editor-in-Chief of Vogue, Fashion Group International is now a global, non-profit, professional organization with over five thousand members in the fashion industry, including apparel, accessories, beauty and home.
